Somali Pirates Receive $2 Million In Ransom Money

this story has been going on for a while and is quite a swashbuckling affair by all accounts. Piracy at sea is ripe in this modern day and age. The picture of the skull and crossbones still rings loud in many people's eye when hearing stories about pirates on the high seas.

The 32,000-tonne bulker, Malaspina Castle, was released on Saturday after being captured more than a month ago. Somali pirates said on Sunday they had received a $2-million (1.3-million pound) ransom for the release of a British-owned vessel and its 16 Bulgarian crew.

Official refused announcing the amount of the ransom. According to Bulgarian deputy foreign minister Milen Keremedchiev the country has not paid ransom for Bulgarian sailors’ freedom.

The pirates asked ransom only for the ship and the load. Bulgaria has never been engaged with these talks. The ransom had been paid by a negotiating team.
Keremendzhiev refused saying the amount of money Somalia pirates got for the hijacked ship and the load. According to him it is not true pirates had received $2-million.
