Sofia's Levski Win Super Cup With Nine Men

Sofia’s Levski won Bulgaria’s Super Cup against Litex Lovech on Saturday ending up with only 9 men on the pitch when the final whistle was blow. Somehow though this cup doesn’t have any weight in importance to the fans. This of course is a worldwide problem with new mini competitions and egg cups as prizes outside the football season. It’s only a warm up for teams for the big league and cups to come, which is not long away now.

Sofia's Levski Win Super Cup With Nine Men
Bulgarian champions Levski Sofia beat Litex Lovech 1-0 in the Bulgarian Super Cup on August 1 at the Vassil Levski National Stadium, lifting the trophy for the third time in their history. It was a comparably decent football affair for Bulgarian standards, played in a warm Saturday evening before the meager 6000 spectators.

This was the seventh edition of the Bulgarian Super Cup, with CSKA Sofia and Levski Sofia having won it three times apiece, while Lokomotiv Plovdiv lifted the trophy in 2004.

The only goal was scored by the French midfielder Cedric Bardon in the 66th minute, sealing the victory for the Blues as they made it a hectic night for themselves towards the end with Rachid Tiberkanine getting a second yellow card while Vladimir Gadjev was injured and had to be carried out. With the Blues having already made all of their substitutions, the final 10 minutes of the match Levski had to endure with nine players.
