The Central Electoral Bureau registered Plamen Galev, believed to be running an organised crime network in southwestern Bulgaria, as candidate in Kyustendil's single-seat constituency Wednesday (June 10th). Earlier in the day, the prosecutor's office officially pressed charges against Galev and his partner, Angel Hristov, for racketeering, blackmail and assault. However, electoral legislation doesn't bar those facing criminal charges from running in national elections. If elected, he would automatically receive immunity from prosecution, forcing a cumbersome process aimed at lifting that immunity.

Get Out Of Jail Free Card In Bulgaria
This is one way on how to ‘Get out of jail free’ in Bulgaria. I do wonder however how may other political candidates are of the same stature, but just haven’t been caught and prosecuted. The question is, if he does get elected, what does that show in terms of advocating criminals nto power in Bulgaria? Actually this has been happening for centuries worldwide so no surprise there. One last point, if he approached youy and told you to vote for hime, what would you do?
